2008 Thanksgiving Meet

November 22, 2008 ~ College of the Holy Cross

The highlight of this year's Thanksgiving Meet was......well.....everyone!

For the first time in as long as I can remember (which is as far back as yesterday;), the TEAM as a whole, did awesome. It's always a treat when everyone has a good day!

THREE METER ~ Our 3-meter divers should be especially proud: you all 'dived at least as good as you have been doing in practice!'  And in some cases, better!

TWO BADWEST DOUBLE-QUALIFIERS!!!

Kim Yang qualified for AAU Nationals and won her 12-13 three meter event putting in a nifty 105b, 403b and 5132D.

Qualifying for AAU Nationals by breaking the 400 barrier and putting in some new dives, Ryan Shelley placed 2nd in his three  meter event. This was Ryan's  1st time qualifying topside!  Ryan's new 205c was especially gratifying!

Matthew Flynn put in a strong performance on 3 mtr and on his last three dives scored a plethora of 6 1/2's from the judges...(304c, 403b, 5233d).  A few more 3 meter practices and Matthew will be joining Ryan & Kim at Nationals!

Lindsay Scuoteguazza & Audrey Strong looked super up top....showing that hard work pays! Audrey's 403c on 1 mtr is improving as a result of doing them on 3 mtr and her respectable 3 mtr contest included a strong  103b and 401B & an improving 5132d. Lindsay's twisters and entries are improving as a result of 3 mtr and it showed on her twister scores topside......couple of harder/higher dd dives and she will be heading to Nats!

ONE METER ~  NOVICES

Again, it hardly ever happens that everyone has a good meet...but, the Novices and one meter performances were super!  Novice divers are supposed to show their balance, control, safety and technique on developmental skills...and they did!!!  We are very pleased with the poise this group of divers displayed.

Nine & Under Novice Girls Paige Richardson, Olivia Castro, Marina Bevacqua, Katie Anderson, Jenny Andrews, Hannah Chen, & Shawnae Ma, stole the show!  Birthday Girl Paige won the event with some sleek diving and much-improved board skills. Top three finishers scored over 80 points and received some 5's & 6's for their performances.

10-11 Girls and Boys Novices were pretty good in their own right.  Tess Anderson, Jessica Langway and Lily Aisenberg finished 1, 2, 3 respectively....Basic skills (jumps)  were controlled & Tess's  103c and 401b received four 6's and two 5 1/2s - great scores in our sport.  Jessica improved her 102b in time for the meet and scored two 6's  & a 5 1/2.  Lily got a 5 & 5 1/2 on her 102c and looked much better on her jumps.  The constantly-improving Adam Siddiqui scored a couple of 6's on his harder dives - 103c & 5122d...and won his event..

14-15 Boys Novice Cam Robertson, new and in his 1st meet, placed 2nd and put in seven solid dives and skills...receiving eight 5's in his debut!  Cam's performance was a good table-setter for his high school diving comin up at Acton-Boxborough after Thanksgiving..

Nice job to all!  Next Meet Dec 13th....our Christmas Gift-Giving Meet...
Prepare to challenge yourself to new dives and to move out of Novice and into Jr. Olympic-level diving....

Please come back for more pictures later....
