MARCH 2006 CO-DIVERS
OF THE MONTH goes to:
KIMBERLY
YANG & CASEY SHERMAN....for becoming full-fledged divers and having
competitive dives in each of the five categories: forward,
back, reverse, inward & twisting. Both worked hard to achieve their
reverse dives to complete their lists. As a result of their hard work,
they are among the 9 & under leading divers in the State and will get to prove
it June 3-4 at the New England AAU Championships. Congratulations to these two
up and coming divers.

DIVER OF THE MONTH
leaders:

Super job to:
(in no particular order)
Kimberly Yang for two new dives in a week- reverse dive and reverse
somersault...Hannah Magid for
learning a partial list on 3 meter and showing the best 'press' on the team (the
thing that allows you to download the board smoothly :);
Kelly Sherman for improvement on
her 105C's and 5132D on 1 mtr.
Patrick Rogers for some great 105B's & 403B's;
Michelle Higgins for her 301C on
3 mtr.
February
2006 ~ Fruitful February ~ February's
DIVER OF THE MONTH was too hard to give to one person. There were
just too many of you who's star shone brightly!
Patrick DeMarle and
Amy Zuerndorfer finished their
high school seasons with a 2nd and a 3rd respectively in their State
divisions...both qualified for AAU Nationals and are being considered for high
school All America.
February was the month that 9 & under
Kimberly Yang made great strides in her forward and inward dives and
sommys, she also bravely tried her doubles & inward sommys;
Casey Sherman got her
long-awaited 103C & B and her 401C & B; it was also the month that new
comer Michelle Higgins learned a
complete list from 3 meter...and honed a new list on 1 mtr. Everything
Hannah Magid (another new comer)
did was new! Kara Cromwell's
sister, Erin returned from a
gymnastics injury and learned everything all over again....
MikeyMcKenna got his 5131D from 1
and 3 mtr. Charlie Goodwin
did his reverse at the Winter Blahs Meet, Olivia improved her front flips.....KellySherman
began practicing her 105C's as part of her list.
BADWEST
lesson divers - Jeff Pieper, Catherine
Barry, Margot Quinn, Adam Siddiqui, Lucy Chai, Riagain Makary, Whitney
Fletcher all performed admirably in the Winter Blahs Meet. So you
see, ..February was a fruitful month! (If I forgot something outstanding YOU
did, please gently remind me :)
SMACK OF THE
MONTH was easier. While there were some great attempts and
stupendous smacks from newcomer Hannah Magid, & some tough sudden stops &
landings from others, the sole SMACK
CHAMP for February was Rebecca
Rees....who had a brainfart and stopped in the middle of a reverse dive
tuck from 3 mtr....yikes....a flatter landing has not been recorded this year!
:)..But she got back up and did the dive! And that's what is important!!
Rebecca far right>
JANUARY 2006 ~
DIVER
OF THE MONTH for the new year goes to Lincoln-Sudbury's Patrick DEMARLE.
Patrick fulfilled a career goal and got the six-dive school record - defeating
his former RipTide teammate Dewey Schultz. Patrick's hefty score was
294.15. Congratulations...and way to go!
SMACK OF THE MONTH goes to another high
schooler- Bromfield's Laura NOCKA - for her unyeilding effort on her back one
and one half somersault....she pancaked a couple of them...but got back up each
time and we know it will be one of her best dives at her Sectionals and
States! Good luck, fly high Laura!
DECEMBER 2005 ~ posted 1/4/06
11 & Under age grouper Kelly SHERMAN not only
receives DIVER OF THE MONTH for December but she gets SMACK OF THE MONTH too.
Kelly's "lost" full-twisting one and a half from 3 meter at Holy Cross was the
best smack in some time.
Kelly is top right in pic.

blur in middle of pic to enlarge
But in true Kelly fashion, she got back up next
time at Holy Cross and chucked her 5132D with no problem...Kelso also won her
event at the Christmas Gift-Giving Meet, tried out her new 1-meter dive-403C,
and qualified for AAU Nationals. Way to go Kelly.
November 2005 ~

After
much thought we decided to recognize multiple Divers of Month for
November..It would be hard to single out any one of the following
divers...although the older age groups had to learn more in time for our Gobbler
Meet. Nice job!

ANNA LACERTE, LINDSAY
SCUOTEGUAZZA, REBECCA REESE, KATIE VOGEL, CAROL ANNE DAVIS, & JULIA MCGRATH
all learned a new & complete list on
3 meter. The rest of you either had most of your dives on 3 mtr or did not
compete a full list at the meet.
SMACK OF THE MONTH
I need help with November Smack of
the Month. I can't remember anyone surpassing Mikey McKenna with his 103
crashes on 3 meter but we will review good smack stories at practice to see who
gets November Smack of the Month...Mikey may have it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ariana Lacerte, Lindsay
Scuoteguazza & Rebecca Rees
are in the lead for this month...due to their great display of courage and
trying all new dives from 3 meter
Thursday @ Holy Cross. Hannah Reese
is a runner up for doing a super 5132D & getting back into her 3 meter list;
another runner up is Charlie Maier
since he switched from novice to J.O. and also learned a great 303c from 1 meter
last week.
Thursday, Novmeber 10th
3 meter practice report:
After our practice @ Holy Cross, the water
level was reported to be 3 inches lower. :), Actually, Thursday Nov 10 was
a supremely great 3 meter practice, with everyone taking their licks but
everyone kept on trying....and that's what makes winners.
Try = Test Retest Yourself!
I was gladdened that we had 14 divers in
attendance. Quantity is good, but the quality of the practice was even
more important. Our more experienced divers,
Patrick DeMarle and Ryan Shelley
,
led the way by showing what can be done up there! All of you proved
to me, your parents and yourselves that
you are a TEAM that really knows how to support each other. If you
did not accomplish your goals on 3 meter, come back. "Fear subsides with a
few successes"...and you WILL succeed if you TRY. Wear your bruises with
pride and remember, when you see horse crap all over the lawn, "Look for the
Pony!"
Smack of the month to date: 3 mtr smacks:
Mikey, Kim, Casey, Patrick, Rebecca
October 2005 ~
Kelly Sherman ~ Kelly learned 3 new dives to complement her already tough
list- 203c, 5223D and 104B. They didn't come without a few
smacks...but she keeps trying and shows signs of "knowing where she is."
Notable showing:
Ryan Shelley's new 303c 1 mtr
Smack of the Month: Kelly's 203's (short)
September 2005 ~
With a host of new divers coming in and
trying out for team...and with mostly basics being performed....there was only a
"coach" of the month. :O)
Smack of the Month goes to
Patrick DeMarle for this attempt at a 205C on 1 meter!
